Overview

This guide was created to provide MeasurePM users with an overview of Prompt Levels and Data Recording Types, as well as the distinction between both features.

Prompt Levels

Clinical Settings

Prompt levels are used to outline the intended prompt progression of a program. Their purpose is to guide instructional direction. You will first set up all prompts you would like to be available in your facility under Clinical Settings> Settings. Please note: making changes under Settings is permission based; this means only authorized users will have access to make changes.

If you have permission, you can go to Clinical Setting-->Settings. From there, use the “+” sign on the right side to add a prompt to your facility and the “– “sign on the left to remove a prompt. When adding prompts, you will enter in the prompt name (e.g., Partial Prompt) and then you can optionally enter a description as well. If a description is entered, it will auto-populate when a prompt is added to a program in the Program/Goal Library or when it is added to a program in a Client Clinical Profile. However, the description can be edited on both the program and client level. You will also notice up/down arrows beside each prompt. These arrows can be used to rearrange the prompt order as to create a prompt hierarchy.

Once a prompt is assigned to programs in the Program Library and/or to client profiles, it cannot be deleted from the Prompt Library. The name can be changed, but the software will prevent you from deleting it. You can, however, make a prompt inaccessible, meaning it will not be available to add to programs in the Program Library and/or to client profiles going forward, by unselecting the "active" checkbox.

Program/ Goal Library

Once your prompts are set up under Settings you can begin adding them to specific programs/ goals in your Program/Goal Library or to programs in Client Clinical Profiles. To do so, scroll to the Prompts Bank section of the program configuration page and add in your desired prompts. Note that only active prompts set up in Settings will be available here.

At the top, you can indicate the expected prompt progression between Custom, Least to Most, or Most to Least. This selection is not indicative of any automatic progression of prompts from the software side, it simply provides an outline to the provider of what the prompt progression should be.  

You can add all prompts in your settings by selecting “Repopulate All Prompts”. To add prompts individually, select the “+” sign on the right-hand side and to remove prompts, select the “–” sign on the left. All prompts in your Settings will be available from the drop-down menu. If there is a description in the settings, it will also populate here. You are free to edit/ make changes to the description here but will be unable to change the prompt name. Please note, you will only be able to add each prompt once; two prompts of the same name are not supported.

Client Clinical Profile

Once programs are set up in your Program/Goal Library they will be available to add to Client Clinical Profiles. When mapping (i.e., Adding) programs to Clinical Profiles, the same prompts that were added in the Program/ Goal Library will populate into the profile, however, you can make changes to the program on a client-by-client basis. You can add/remove prompts on the Client Clinical Profile simply by selecting the trashcan icon to the righthand side of the prompt description. Please note: if the prompt is currently assigned for a step in the task analysis, you will be required to remove it from the step first before removing it from the prompt bank.

Once a prompt is added, users can optionally add a prompt description. This is a place for supervisors to indicate what a given prompt level looks like either for the program or for that client.

You can arrange the order of the prompts by selecting the 6 dots on the left and dragging the prompt to the desired placement. Lastly, you can select the button to the right of the 6 dots to assign a current prompt level. This current prompt level is displayed on the mobile-app with the program name, and is stored (i.e., tagged) with the data committed as well.

Mobile-App

Client specific program modifications can also be done on the Mobile-App. Making these changes are permission based, therefore, only authorized users will have access to make edits. If you are granted permission, you can go into a Clinical Profile on the Mobile-App, select the program you would like to edit and go to Program Info. From there, you will select the lock icon in the top righthand corner to unlock editing, and then make desired changes. In the Prompt Bank window, you will also see up/down arrows beside each prompt; this is to rearrange the prompt order as to create a prompt hierarchy which staff can follow. You can select the current prompt level using the button to the left of the prompt.


Once you have made the changes/ made program configurations, you will see the “Current prompt level” outlined at the top of the data recording screen, beside the program name. An example is represented below where you can see the prompt level is “Gesture."  This prompt will be stored with the program data and can be seen on the Program Data screen on the Mobile-App as well as on the Program Summary Report on the Web. In addition, when adding phase lines to your graphs, you will have the option to “Copy from Prompt Level” and the current assigned prompt, in this case “Gesture” will automatically populate in the phase line title text box.

Prompt Level Graphing

As mentioned above, the prompt level can be automatically pulled into graphs via phase lines once data has been collected. To do so, populate the graph as you normally would and select the dashed cross to add a phase line.

Mobile-App

When adding, you will have the option of “Copy from Prompt Level”. Selecting this will auto-populate the prompt level into the text box. Users will have the option to edit the text after copying from prompt level If they chose and/or choose to also Copy from Phase Objective.

After selecting Add Phase line or Save, the phase line will appear with the Prompt level as the title on the graph.

Data Recording Types

Data Recording Types, (also known as Discrete Categorization) are used to code your trial data. It is set up by each site individually so that the coding can be per their standard of practice. Most commonly, users set it up to track the types of prompts used for the learner during given trials, or simple “+” and “-” coding.

Each data recording type is associated with a pass or fail response and reflects how your data will be stored and displayed (e.g., 5 pass responses, 5 fail responses= 50% correct responding). This determines how your data will be calculated and displayed across the platform and how trends and success criteria will be detected.

Clinical Settings

You will set up Data Recording Types in the same manner as you did the Prompt Levels, under Clinical Settings. Again, please note, making changes under Settings is permission based. This means only authorized users will have access to make changes.

If you have permission, you can go to Clinical Setting-->Settings. From there, use the “+” sign on the right to add a Data Recording Type into your facility and the “–” sign on the left to remove a Data Recording Type. When adding, you will enter in the Data Recording Type code. This can be any two character code (e.g., VP). This is what will be seen in the program configurations, client profile, data collection screens (if established for that program), and graph filters.

Next, enter the Data Recording Name (e.g., Visual Prompt). Following, you will be able to decide if the Data Recording Type will be considered a pass (correct) or a fail (incorrect) response for the purposes of data analysis.

Lastly, when configuring the Data Recording Types under Settings, you will need to decide if you would like it to be "Available" for selection when creating new Programs/ goals or if you would like it to be "Default," meaning it auto populates when entering new Program/Goals. This option can help with efficiency if there are certain Data Recording Types often used within your company. Please note that only Data Recording types set up under Settings will be available to add to programs, and that they cannot be deleted once they are being used within the site.

Program/Goal Library

Once your Data Recording Types are in your Settings you can begin adding them to specific programs/ goals in your library. To do so, scroll to the Data Recording Types section and add in your desired Data Recording Types. Note that only the Data Recording Types set up in Settings will be available for selection.

When you first create a program, only the Default Data recording Types will automatically populate. To add additional Data Recording Types, select anywhere in the Data Recording Types box and select a Data Recording Type to add from the drop-down menu. To remove an added or default Data Recording Type select the “x” beside its code.

Client Clinical Profile

Once programs are set up in your Program/Goal Library they will be available to add to Client Clinical Profiles. When adding programs to Clinical Profiles, the same Data Recording Type that were added in the Program/ Goal Library will populate. However, you are able to make changes to the program on a client-by-client basis. If you have permission, you can add/remove Data Recording Types on the Client Clinical Profile in the same manner as in the library.

Mobile-App

Client-by-client program modifications, can also be done on the mobile-app. Making these changes is permission based, therefore, only authorized users will have access to make edits. If you are granted permission, you can go into a Clinical Profile, select the program you would like to edit and go to Program Info. From here, you will select the lock icon in the top righthand corner to unlock editing, and then make the desired changes.

When you navigate to the Data Recording screen you will see your changes reflected, and you will see the Data Recording Types outlined in the recording window. An example is presented below in which you can see the Data Recording Types are NP, G and FP.

Data Recording Types Graphing

When viewing graphs on Web and Mobile-App, you will have the option to view data specific to their Data Recording Types. On the Web, you can select multiple to view at one time, in which case, a data path will populate for each selected. On the Mobile-App, you can only select one Data Recording Type to view at one time. The Data Recording Type for the data will be displayed at the top of the graph. To do so, follow the chart below:

Review

Prompt Levels and Data Recording Types both have to be set up under your Settings and can both be configured on the Program/ Goal Library and on the Client Clinical Profile on the Web and Mobile-App.

Prompt Levels and Data Recording Types are not linked together. You can opt to have them outlined similarly (e.g., Gesture for Prompt Level and G for Data Recording Type) or completely different (e.g., Gesture for Prompt Level and ++ for Data Recording Type).

Review of Distinction

  • Prompt Level: Indicates to staff how the program should be run.
  • Recording Types: How the staff will score the learner’s response. Reflects how your data will be stored and displayed.
