Monitoring Game Progress and Point Collection
Gamification is an evidence based practice shown to increase staff engagement, increase completion of routine tasks, and potentially increase service hours to clients through reductions in cancellations and expansion of staff availability for reroutes and make-up sessions.
Within MeasurePM, this module allows sites to customize games for employees with the goal of accumulating points for completion of predetermined actions. For example, an employee can earn points for rendering appointments with a signature and submitting SOAP Notes on the day of service. An employee can also earn optional bonus points for appointments within specific time frames, and submitting timesheets by the conclusion of the pay period.
When a game is active, participants can track their own progress across the Web and Mobile-App through visuals, leaderboards, records, animations, and notifications. Site administrators can also monitor participants games and points on the Web through similar features.
For gamification settings and setup, please see this guide. For game progress monitoring, please see below.
Earning Points
When participants earn points on the Mobile-App, and when they reach their final gaol, animations will occur on the screen!
Notifications
In addition to animations, when participants meet their total point goals, they will receive a notification to alert them.
Notifications also go to recipients of manual delivery to explain why points were delivered.
There is also an optional notification for a game administrator to be alerted when a participant of the game meets their goal.
Progress Bar (Web and Mobile-App)
When an employee is a participant of an active game, a progress-bar will be displayed on their Web and Mobile-App accounts. This progress bar is located at top right-hand corner of Web screen and the top left-hand corner on the Mobile-App.
The progress bar will display the employee’s: (i) number of points awarded/earned (numerator), (ii) total game points goal (denominator), and (iii) a visual progress bar to display the percentage of progress towards the goal.
If the employee is a participant in more than one game, the denominator will be the sum of all games’ point criteria. For example, if Provider A is part of two active games, with Game 1 having a criterion of 15 and Game 2 having a criterion of 20, a total value of 35 will be displayed in the progress bar.
Once a game’s end date has been reached, this progress bar will no longer be displayed.
Participant Game Dashboard
In addition to the progress bar, game participant will have a tab on the Mobile-App called "My Points". This is only available during an active game.
Within the My Points page the game name, game period, and prizes (if configured) are listed. The participant can see their own points and total goal in the progress circle, and the leaderboard for the game. Other participants in the company are listed by employee ID rather than by name. The logged in user/participant will see his/her own name if on the leaderboard.
Game rules and Additional Information can be seen in a pop-up when the user selects the "i" icon.
Participant Alias
Participants can create alias's for themselves that will replace their employee ID on other's leaderboards, and be displayed on their own.
Game Dashboard
The Game Dashboard is a page for site administrators to view past and current games and manually deliver points. Access to the site Game Dashboard is permission based. To open the Game Dashboard, select Appointments > Game Dashboard.
The dashboard is divided into two separate tabs: (i) Leaderboard, and (ii) Manual Point Delivery.
Leaderboard
By default, the current game will automatically be displayed. To review other games, select any of the games listed in the “Game Name” dropdown menu. Once a game has been selected, game specific information is displayed on the screen including the cumulative number of points across all game participants, game end date, configured prize(s), and game rules.
The Leaderboard below displays scores and ranking of the employees according to points collected. Within this table you have the option of filtering by Zone and Employee Type. Note, on this page, all employee names will be displayed, however, in the My Points page, employee IDs are used to replace employee names.
Using the History section at the bottom of this screen, you can search for specific employees to review their point history. This table will be organized into the following columns: (i) Points, (ii) Cumulative Points, (iii) Date, and (iv) Reason (i.e., rule met or manual point delivery).
Manual Delivery
In this tab, you have the option of delivering manual points to a game group or to individual participants. To use this feature, start by selecting the relevant game using the associated dropdown menu (game period will automatically populate based on the game selection).
Once the game has been selected you can opt to deliver points to a group or individual. To deliver points to a group, select a group from the Participant Group dropdown. To deliver points to an individual, select the employee’s participant group, then use the adjacent Participant Name dropdown to find that specific employee. Once selections have been made, manually type in the number of points to award and if desired, type in a reason in the Reason textbox. If the Reason textbox is used, this information will populate in the Game Dashboard History section and the My Points table. To complete this process, select the “Deliver Points” button. The points delivered in this fashion will automatically be reflected on the Web and Mobile-app in the progress bar, data reports, My Points and Game Dashboard.
When points are manually delivered, the recipient automatically gets a notification informing them.
Game Dashboard My Points (Web and Mobile-App)
This page allows employees to monitor their own progress for current games and review game results.
On the Web My Points is found under the My Appointments tab.
Upon opening the page, the current game will be displayed by default. However, other current and past games can also be reviewed. Simply select the Game Name from the dropdown menu to view the game of interest. The participant’s progress bar for this specific game will be displayed, as well as the game end date, configured prize(s) and game rules/criteria.
A Leaderboard is also presented, which ranks the game’s configured employees amongst their peers, based on points. Only the logged in provider’s name will be displayed, while all other employees will be represented with a unique employee ID.
To see your own point collection history, refer to the My History table, which is organized into the following columns: (i) Points, (ii) Cumulative Points, (iii) Date, and (iv) Reason (i.e., rule met or manual point delivery). Note: if the same rule was met multiple times within the same day, those points will only be listed once within the table (e.g., “Rendering Requirement” will only be listed once even if more than one appointment was rendered in the same day).
To access the My Points module on the Mobile-App, select the “My Points” tab after logging into the Mobile-App. Selecting this tab will display the current game and its unique information. Note, the information presented here is identical to the information available on the Web version of this module, excluding the point collection history.
Unlike the Web's My Points page, only active games will be available to view on the Mobile-Ap, therefore if there is no ongoing or active games at the time of logging in, there will not be any viewable information in this tab.
Viewing Data in a Report
Site administrators with permission can access gamification data in a report format via the following two reports: (i) Gamification Raw Data Point Value, and (ii) Gamification Total by Employee. Both reports can be found by first navigating to the Reports tab. From here select Data Reports > Schedule > Gamification Raw Data Point Value/Gamification Total by Employee.
Gamification Raw Point Report
The purpose of the Gamification Raw Point report is to see a game’s point collection history across employees specific to a selected date range (i.e., indicated by the start and end date). To generate a generic report for a specified game, you are only required to select the game of interest using the Game Name dropdown. To modify the generated report (e.g., specifying a custom date range, or by filtering based on Employee Type, Zone or Employee Name), proceed with making the applicable selections, followed by selecting the “Go” button.
Once a table is generated, the information will be organized into the following columns: (i) Employee, (ii), Employee Type, (iii) Zone, (iv) Date Points were Earned, (v) Number of Points Earned, and (vi) Rule Met. This information matches the point history available in both the Game Dashboard and My Points pages.
Gamification Total by Employee
The purpose of the Gamification Total by Employee report is to view the total points per employee as per the selected game and date range (i.e., indicated by the start and end date). Once a table is generated, the information will be organized into the following columns: (i) Employee Name, (ii), Employee Type, (iii) Zone, and (iv) Total Points Earned.
If an employee is part of more than one zone as per the game’s configurations, the data will appear more than once. Specifically, there will be one entry for each zone the participant is a part of. For example, if a user is part of two zones as established in game’s setting, when generating a gamification report, there will be two rows, each dedicated to the individual zones.
You are able to filter within both generated reports. To do so, use the funnel icons located in the header of each table row. Additionally, you also have the option to export the reports as Excel spreadsheets. To do so, simply select the “Export to Excel” button located below the fields. The information displayed in the exported Excel document is identical to the information in the report as displayed within MeasurePM.
