MeasurePM has developed a new feature within SOAP Notes that allows for conditional settings on Checkbox Properties! This has been developed to help providers customize SOAP Note layouts and settings. This may help to ensure only fields relevant to the client and session are displayed on the note.

Why are Conditional Settings Beneficial to a Provider?

  • Simplifies data entry by hiding unnecessary fields
  • Enhances compliance by prompting Required information based on conditions
  • Saves time by eliminating extra clicks and irrelevant sections

How To Access and Configure

1. To use this feature, first, the provider will need access to all SOAP Note Settings with the permissions below enabled, specifically SOAPNoteProperties, and SOAPNoteSettings to create and add properties to a SOAP note.

 2. Enter SOAP Note Settings by selecting Site Settings > SOAP Notes > SOAP Note Settings.

3. Once this has been done, you may access a current SOAP Note Template. If there are current checkbox properties within the SOAP Note, you will see a blue box next to it titled “Edit Conditions”.

4. If you do not have any current properties with a checkbox, you are able to create a custom SOAP note property for the SOAP note by selecting SOAP Note Properties and creating your own property relevant to what you want to add into the note. Please make sure to select the property type as “Checkbox”.

5. Going back into the SOAP Note Settings, after selecting the “Edit Conditions” box, this will allow you to begin selecting properties that will be visible as a result of selecting the checkbox property within the note

Editing Conditional Properties

Within the conditional settings window, the main checkbox property appears at the top. This is the property you are setting conditions for. Below it, you will see a list of all other SOAP note properties that can be made visible or Required when the main checkbox is selected.

Selecting the Visible checkbox beside a property means that when the main checkbox property is selected within the SOAP note, that property will appear in the note according to its set order in mapped properties. This setting only determines whether the property is shown or hidden, not its placement.

If the Visible checkbox is not selected, the property will remain visible in the main SOAP note by default, rather than displaying conditionally.

Selecting Required beside a property means that when the main checkbox property is selected, the conditional property will become mandatory before the SOAP note can be submitted. An example of this is shown below.

The difference between a Required conditional property and a Required SOAP note property is visibility and when the requirement applies.

  • A Required conditional property stays hidden until the related checkbox is selected. Once the checkbox is checked, the conditional property becomes visible and must be completed before submitting the note.
  • regular Required SOAP note property is always visible, and it must be filled out before the note can be submitted, regardless of any other selections.

You may configure and add as many checkbox properties as you would like within the SOAP note AND configure multiple conditional properties per checkbox property.

Points to Remember

  1. Conditions can only be applied to checkbox properties, which are first added in custom properties.
  2. Multiple conditions can be set on the same property.
  3. Conditional properties will only be shown in the note if the “Visible” box has been checked.
  4. Non-conditional properties will show on the note when the “Active” box has been checked within the mapped properties list.
  5. When a property is marked as Required in the mapped properties list, and set as not Required in conditional settings, it will appear in the main SOAP note instead of as a conditional property.
  6. When a property is marked as Required, in either the mapped properties list, or in the conditional settings list, the property will be mandatory to fill out when it is shown on the note.
